Share

The chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Ward 4, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mr Adejayan Adebi-leje, has led 299 other members of the party to the ruling Labour Party, even as Akoko youths rally for the Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimi-ko’s return for a second term in office.

Among the chieftains of the ACN, who defected with the chairman, are Mrs Taye Akinsulire and Prophet Elijah Agboola, who were Women Leader and Welfare Officer of the party respectively.

Adebileje, while speaking on behalf of the defectors, said the decision was due to what he described as the inability of the ACN leaders to adopt due process in electing a candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, adding that they were impressed by the preparation of LP in the state towards the coming election.

Predicting victory for his new party, Adebileje echoed the resolve of the new members to work for the victory of the Labour Party at the October 20 gubernatorial election. He expressed delight over the rousing welcome accorded them by members of the LP in the area, promising, on behalf of the new members, to obey and abide by the constitution of LP.

Meanwhile, youths in Ekan, in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state, have staged an endorsement rally for the re-election of Governor Mimiko.

The youths, who came under the umbrella of Ekan Youths Support Iroko 2013, gave their endorsement at the inauguration of the group in the area on Friday.

Speaking through their co-ordinator, Comrade Olajide Najemdeen Abubarkar (Dr. Amesa), the youths hinged their support for the governor on the developmental projects being embarked upon by LP government in the state.

Comrade Abubarkar, who said the youths were even ready to work assiduously for the realisation of the second term ambition of the governor, disclosed that members of the group would sensitise and mobilise youths in opposition parties to join the race to see Dr Mimiko return to the Alagbaka Government House in 2013.
Describing the achievements of Dr Mimiko in Ekan and the entire Akoko North-East Local Government as unprecedented, the youths co-ordinator highlighted projects like the Awara water project, the mega school, road networks, hospitals and the Ikare Township Stadium among several others as some of the achievements of the Governor Mimiko administration that have endeared him to the people.
