Police Foil Bomb Attacks In Jos, Kano

The prompt intervention of the Anti-bomb Squad Unit of the Plateau State Police Command foiled another attempt to bomb a densely populated part of Jos, capital of Plateau State, on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the State Police Command, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abu Emmanuel, made available to Saturday Tribune in Jos, it pointed out that some suspected terrorists, at about 11:23 p.m, planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS) at a residential area of Congo Russia part of the state capital.

Following a distress call by the people living within the vicinity, who discovered the IEDS and a call from the Divisional Police Officer at Nasarawa Gwong, CSP John Edeh, anti-bomb squad, led by ASP Abel Mbibi, moved to the scene.

It pointed out that the squad successfully recovered, disarmed, diffused and evacuated the Improvised Explosive Devices planted by the terrorists, adding that no casualty and damage to property was recorded.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ayeni, commended members of the public for the way they handle the situation before the arrival of the police and admonished them to sustain the tempo.

Also, Kano State Police Command have uncovered some bombs in Bompai area of Kano. The bombs were uncovered on Friday by security operatives before being detonated.

According to Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Dutse, who confirmed the incident, no casualty was recorded during the process of detonation.

The police advised people to go on with their normal business, saying there was no cause for alarm.
