Gunmen Kill 2, abduct lawmaker’s mother In Bayelsa
Two persons were reportedly shot dead at Sangana in Brass local government of Bayelsa State as unidentified gunmen abducted the mother of a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Abraham Ingobere, representing Brass Constituency III.
Investigation conducted by Saturday Tribune indicated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday.
Saturday Tribune was informed that the gunmen, who stormed Sangana community around 1:15a.m in a speedboat, shot sporadically and caused commotion among the residents, who were sleeping before their arrival.
“It was as if our community was under enemy attack. The sound of heavy gunfire woke us from our deep sleep. There was pandemonium and fear everywhere. Some people escaped to neighbouring communities for safety,” a resident, who pleaded anonymity stated.
Efforts to speak with the lawmaker, whose mother was kidnapped were unsuccessful, but a family source hinted that the gunmen had established contact with him (Abraham) demanding N2million ransom before his mother could regain his freedom.
