Robbers Invade Ogun Gov’s Office
A four-man gang of bandits stormed the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeo-kuta, Ogun State, on Friday, in an attempt to steal a Toyota Camry with registration number: Ogun AKM 146 AA.
The robbers arrived at the governor's offiice around 9.40 a.m. in a black Nissan Quest marked: ABUJA BK 944 RSH, but they were unlucky as the alarm system in the targeted car went off.
The car, Saturday Tribune learnt, was parked behind the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology block, near the deputy governor’s office at the state secretariat.
The bandits, in an attempt to immediately escape from the scene, drove recklessly towards the main gate of the secretariat before bullets fired by a policeman hit one of them in the thigh. His colleagues fled into the bush and abandoned their car.
A team from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), it was further learnt, joined in the chase of the bandits and eventually shot one of them dead.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun expressed surprise at the development and commended the security personnel for their efforts.
The governor said: “This is part of what we met on ground. I told you before that to buy guns in Ogun State is easier than to buy water or a bottle of Coca-Cola and the example is what we have seen.
“Imagine if people now have the effrontery to say they want to come into the secretariat. It is unheard of. But we are ready for them, not just at the secretariat, but everywhere in the state. So, whosoever is sending them should tell them that their days are numbered.”
