I Did Not Stop Bayelsa Gov Election - Judge
Justice Donatus Okorowo of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday, said that he did not stop the governorship election in Bayelsa State, scheduled for today and neither did he summon the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its chairman as reported in the media.
Justice Okorowo, who was presiding over a matter brought by the standard-bearer of the African Reinaissance Party (ARP), Chief Kenneth Gbalikumah, seeking to stop the election from holding today, called on the media to correct the story published to show the true position of the court.
The plaintiff had, through his counsel, Kayode Ajulo, brought a motion ex-parte seeking to stop the election, but the court had told him to put the respondents on notice.
When the matter came up on Friday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its standard-bearer, Seriake Dickson had brought an application seeking to be joined as a respondents.
However, the electoral body told the court that it had not been served with the plaintiff's process.
The court adjourned the matter till March 5, but ordered the plaintiff to serve all the process on the respondents before the next adjourned date.
