AT least three notable members of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have stepped up their campaigns to be the next chairman of the party in the state.

Checks by Saturday Tribune, on Friday, indicated that one of them is Alhaji Ademola Santos, who was a Special Assistant to the former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Santos, who hails from Oyo town, was also the chairman of the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) in old Oyo Local Government Area and PDP state youth leader, Director of Organisation of the defunct Peoples Front (PF) founded by late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua..

Another PDP stalwart said to be among the front runner for the post of PDP chairman in next month’s congress of the party is Chief Jacob Adetoro from Igbeti, while the third aspirant is Alhaji Kunle Mustapaha, a native of Iseyin.

It was learnt that the aspirants had reportedly made overtures to some major stakeholders in the party with a view to securing their backing.

Some of the top shots included the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Jumoke Akinjide; the former deputy governor, Chief Taofeek Ararapaja, former deputy national chairman of the party, Alhaji  Yekeen Adeojo; former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin and former Secretary to the State Government (SGF), Chief Dejo Raimi.
