Ogun PDP Boss Faults Court Order
The chairman of the Harmonised State Executive Committee (Exco) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Chief Dayo Soremi, has faulted an injunction restraining the state chapter of the PDP from going ahead with its proposed congresses.
A High Court in Ilaro, Ogun State, had, on Thursday, granted the injunction sought by Mr Babatunde Osholake and others.
In a statement on Friday, Soremi described the move as “worse than an abuse of court process,” just as he faulted insinuations being made in certain quarters that with the postponement of congresses by the national headquarters of the PDP, his executive could no longer preside over the exercise.
The statement reads in part: “Clearly, Osholake’s action is an obstruction of the administration of justice and a criminal contempt of the Federal High Court, Lagos, because he (Osholake) is also a defendant in Suit FHC/L/CS/1248/11 by his own application for joiner, which was granted by the court. The Federal High Court gave a judgment on the suit in our favour on January 27, 2012.
“It stands logic on the head that he went to a court of concurrent jurisdiction to get an injunction on issues that had been determined by the judgment of the Federal High Court. The appropriate step that Osholake should have taken was to appeal if he was not satisfied with the judgment,” the statement added.
