NSCDC Deploys 30,000 For Gov Elections
THE Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin has ordered the deployment of 30, 000 officers and men of the corps to Bayelsa, Sokoto, Cross River and Adamawa States ahead the scheduled governorship elections in the states.
The move, according to him, is to complement the effort of the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) in conducting free and credible elections under a hitch-free condition.
Abolurin spoke on Friday at the Corps National Headquarters Abuja during a briefing of officers of the States and Zones, who included zonal commanders, state commandants, Head of Departments, divisional officers and various schedule officers as part of strategies to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
Abolurin was quoted in a statement by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Okeh, as warning against violence, while urging NSCDC personnel to be proactive and more vigilant in view of the disturbing trend of insecurity in the nation, owing to the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
