Adamawa Governorship Election Holds Today
After two postponements, the governorship election in Adamawa State, will hold today as the citizens of the state file out to pick the governor of their choice.
Five political parties are in the battle for the Dougirei Government House.
The parties are the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They had weathered the storm in their various campaign strategies to achieve victory in today’s election.
In an chat with Saturday Tribune, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Kashim Gaidam said all necessary arrangements have been made for a successful election.
He said the spate of changes in the election date was sequel to the recent breaches of peace in the state and that the INEC body would not want to risk having an election under such atmosphere.
Gaidam said INEC had been improving on subsequent elections after the April 2011 general elections.
