There was confusion in Kogi State on Friday, as an acting governors and a governor were sworn in, following the judgment that sacked Governor Ibrahim Idris, from office.

While the Speaker of the state House of Assembly,  Honurable Abdullahi Bello was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, Captain Idris Wada was administered the oath of office at the Government House by the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Honurable Shaibu Atadoga.

But the joy in his camp was shortlived by a directive from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Muhammed Adoke.

Before the Speaker took his oath of office, Captain Wada’s swearing-in was almost  distrupted by members of the state House of Assembly protesting the action.

The legislators, who felt that Honurable Bello should  be sworn in as acting governor, argued that Wada, as the governor-elect under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should respect the judgment which made the speaker acting governor.

It took the intervention of PDP stakeholders several hours to bring the situation under control.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ajanah, who was expected to swear-in the new governor was absent from the venue.

After several hours of waiting for the CJ by the dignitaries, the President of the  Customary Court of Appeal,  Honourable Shaibu Atadoga, was  invited to swear-in Wada and his deputy-elect, Arch. Yomi Awoniyi.

However, barely 15 minutes after the administration of the oath of office, the directive came from Abuja that the speaker should take over as acting governor.

This development led to the withdrawal of all security agents detail to Wada, while the Police and  State Security Service (SSS) quickly re-enforced the security of the Speaker.

All roads leading to the Kogi State High court were taken over by  the security agencies for the peaceful swearing-in of the Speaker at the office of the Kogi state Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah.
