Share

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present its operational plan for the 2011 general elections for public review next week, with the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the special guest of honour.

Declaring this on Friday at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, the Deputy Secretary, Public Affairs, Mr. Steve Osemeke, said the national conference of electoral stakeholders, holding in Abuja between Tuesday and Thursday next week, was part of the commission’s preparations for a successful conduct of the 2011 general elections.

He pointed out that the preparatory conference, which is a follow-up to the INEC Retreat held last year in Kaduna, would provide a platform for the formal presentation of INEC’s plans for the conduct of the elections.

The Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is expected to be the number one guest at the event and will also declare the conference open.

Also, the high point of the presentation will be a speech by the Indian Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Navin Chawia.
