Anxiety In PDP Camp Over Delay In INEC Guidelines
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have been gripped by anxiety over the delay in the release of timetable for the next general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as it struggled to pacify anxious members on the issue.
The party has, however, explained to its members that the delay in its release of guidelines for the elections was due to incapacitation by INEC on the issue of guidelines for the 2011 general election owing to delay in the gazetting of the Electoral Act by the Federal Government.
The party said the non-release of guidelines for the next round of elections by INEC was the reason it has not been able to release its own timetable for primaries of the party, indicating, therefore, that no party member should expect the timetable earlier than a response from INEC.
