PAN Nigeria Limited has formally launched the Nigeria-made Chinese Changan Alsvin auto brand into Nigeria’s automobile market.
The sedan, which was recently unveiled at an auto fair in Lagos, was locally assembled at the Kaduna plant of PAN Nigeria limited.
Built with 1.5 litre engine, Changan Alsvin, according to the automaker, “in every respect, from the exterior to the interior, is great, owing to its sleek design.”
PAN Nigeria said the company has been licensed to produce the Alsvin in Nigeria and market it across West Africa sub-region, with an annual production of at least, 7,000 units, starting with 3,000 units this year.
“It is this drive that triggered PAN Nigeria Limited to sign a technical agreement with the Changan International Corporation, Chongqin-China and the brand owners of Alsvin, a car internationally certified which we have found adaptable and affordable for a good majority of income earners in the country,” the company said.
The company said the production of the company in Nigeria was inspired by the parent company’s existing joint venture with Ford, Suzuki and PSA.
“Its Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) is packaged for safety and emergencies, while the chassis and platform provide the most reliable and excellent road holding.
“Therefore, one can lay claim to the fact that Alsvin is from the completely new and high starting point global B2 platform of Changan vehicles, with a design technology of self-adopting to multi-road conditions like what obtains on Nigerian roads.
“Alsvin combines these advantages of Macpherson independent suspension and twist-beam with type semi independent suspension, leading to high and excellent power performance, comfort and road handling,” PAN Nigeria said.
The company said that the project would employ a number of Nigerians directly, as well as its accredited dealers and more importantly, re-ignite local component manufacturing in the country.
PAN Nigeria said a move to that effect would also indirectly employ more Nigerian through their production facilities would be instituted.
