The easiest thing in the world is to always deceive one self, but it not that easy to always deceive other people. Goodluck need to know that its not that easy to deceive us (Nigerians), its a true and glaring picture that Nigeria has been turned to nothing but a country where the hope of good living is just a mirage based on everyday hardship that the so called politicians has subjected we Nigerians into. Its not a surprise that the president is rejecting that rating because its just a confirmation that he is just a liar and a deceiver. The unfortunate thing is that these so called politicians have put on the habit of telling us that everything is fine while they continue to enrich them self and subject us to abject poverty. In country with established authority, we have insecurity of life, lots of people are losing their life incessantly to this bokoharam lunacy, and all that the president can say is that some people in the government are part to it. So what does that means to us? That they can just do whatever they want to do or what? where is that government that can bring issues to justice? What we hear every time is that everything is fine even after two churches has being bombed with lots of family thrown into eternal sorrow. Its funny that Mr President can even come in the open to reject such rating while we have thousands of graduates that roam our road for job with no glimpse of expectation on getting one. The electricity problem has being a linger headache in our country that it kills our industries and crippled our economy, 24hrs uninterrupted electricity is a just an existence in imagination rather than reality. and the president still want to tell us that all is well. Our roads are just death trap with thousands Nigerians being victim of this insanity on everyday basis. We now live in a country where thief's threats people's life and property and all the president can seem to tell us is that Nigeria is not that bad or that we Nigerians are not that deprived of good well being. In Nigeria, we have police force that harass commuters on our roads, the corruption had devoured our country to an unimaginable lowest base of life. Corruption is no more a secret. Politics is now a means to loot public funds that should have being used to build a viable economy. Integrity at work places is a forgotten standard, people now exploit one another through every means at work places. Well, Mr. president may not see issues like these as a measure of a nation's well being, at least he can be boastful of changing UNILAG to Abiola University. Mr. Goodluck, we Nigerian desired and deserved a better country we can call our own, where life, happiness and peace of mind are attached with high importance and perfectly secured.

Declaring such ranking as baseless is an outright rejection of truth and a gross expression of political bigotry. We don't even need any ranking to know the high level of poverty, insecurity and infrastructural decay in Nigeria because we can feel it. We know that these problems did not began today but this government has not done enough.

Graduating students should use Dr Abati.s comments on patitos gang and all his anti govt and pro people stance and his now pro govt comments as thesis. This will help psychology students especially to understand the Nature of Man

Now u guys want to tell us what to think. I think they even got it wrong, we shld be number 1 or 2 on that list. A country that cannot probe corruption without tainting it with corruption. The govt shld keep deceiving itself and some Nigerians.

It just painful that this comment wont get anywhere. If Dr. Abati is quick to condemn the tools used, then he should provide us a reliable tool to measure. This is a man who is not interested in the welfare of Nigerians from all indications. when are we gonna stop talking and take serious action. lets take to the street and snatch back our future.

President Johnathan, Dr. Abati, and all non-pretentious Nigerians know that the Fund For Peace (FFP) is correct. Nigeria has all the qualities of a failed state. A country where corruption reigns supreme, where the political class draws oversize salaries and allowances that can not be defended given our GNP; where 88% of qualified students cannot find a place to further their education because only about 10% instead of 26% (international recommendation)of the national budget is allocated to education; where about 72% of its citizen live at below one dollar a day; where power supply and other necessary resources is not availlable to a large majority of its citizens . . . . Nigeria is a nation of 'suffer and smile" people living under the harshest condition on earth.

We don't even need the FFP before Nigerians know that we are a failed state> The evidence is staring everybody in the face no matter what presidential spokespersons or media advisers want the world to believe. It is baffling how men change when they taste power. I wonder if this is the same Reuben Abati of the Guardian newspapers. When Christians can no longer live in the north courtesy of bh. Armed robbers operate without hindrance. Fulani gunmen are sacking & killing villagers from Plateau, Nassarawa, Benue, Taraba etc. The common man cannot go about his daily humble activities without one danger or the other & yet the government of the day is so docile & dazed, it looks like a confused patient coming round after a dose of anesthetics. What proofs or indicators do we need? It only reminds one of a fomer minister during Shagari administration who once said that since no Nigerian was eating from the dustbin, nobody can claim that Nigerians were going to bed without food. To your tents oh Nigerians. May God help us.

With all that is happing day in day out we can only correct this rating and resolve it. With what is on ground now I do not see any Nigerian that is free for fear of what will happing in any Northern city including Abuja or cites in the West or East Nigeria, even if one in staying in home state. Many states are failed states but not Nigeria.

The FG & states should sweep away criminality within its contents by stopping illegal killings, kidnapping and Armed robbery through a seruos security set up like it is 90% obtainable in Ghana. In Ghana there is not much tribal or religious diffrence among its Nationals and also with other nationals. No Boko Haram in Ghana.

Mr. Abati, if the parachute analysts could rate your own country, I believe they are good parchuters and they might have seen what you on the ground have failed to see because the man on board in the air could see more. Solutions to Nigeria problem are what we need from you and not qualifying objective analysts as parachuters. Number 1 solution is to urgently start cheap job revolution in the north to cater for unemployed youths. Secondly, there should be urgent foreign vocational training to reduce the number of unemployed youths that could be recruited into the terrorist groups in the region. Humanitarian aids should be provided urgently for the displaced persons and this programme should be left in the hands of the security agencies to bring about amiable relations between the security forces and the public in the region.I think if we are seeing doing something about the problems we are facing, no parachute analyst we rank us as a failed nation.

Recently, a friend frowarded an article to be me where a a Ghanaian Professor in the US depicted President GEJ as a "joke". My response is that we don't need a Ghanaian to tell us what is obvious. I have srudied and lived in three continents and I can say without any fear of contradiction that Nigeria has all the trappings of a failed state; and it does not matter whether the likes of Abati and his "master" agrees or not. The issue now should be whether the country can be revived from its deathbed or allowed to die for good. The jury is still out on this. As for me, I am yet to find a Nigerian in leadership position worthy of any respect. The so-called leaders are a bunch of opportunists and robbers.

Not withstanding what the government of Nigeria wants to make its people believe, the country, Nigeria, is a Failed State. There is nothing that works in the country, nothing! I recently visited in Nigeria from the States and it only took the plane's decent into Lagos for me to see the degradation of what Nigeria has turned into. The airport looks like a poultry; the security agents are corrupt; and nothing seems to work. Not even a train station should look the way our national airport looks. There are no roads, no electricity, no pipe borne water, no public schools, no transportation, and the list goes on and on. These all put together are the attributes of a failed state.

We do not need a nation to tell us that Nigeria is a failed state. It is even a graeter failed state since 2011. If Abati feels that there is no empirical basis to show that Nigeria is a failed state, let him take a walk to Damaturu, and other palaces in the North where a large section of the country is under the control of the almighty Boko Haram. Student now trecks to school because they cannot afford tarnsprot fair. 70% of Nigerians cannot afford two square meals. Graduates of Universities are rooming the streets in search of Jobs, Marriges are collapsing because of bad economic policy. Banks are not lending to real sector any longer.
