Dear Yemisi,

I am an 18-year-old

girl, I have discovered that my left breast is always

disturbing me.

If I bent down, I would notice a strange movement as if something is moving round my breast.

Also, I have small breasts like that of a 13-year-old girl.

What should I do?

From your letter, your complaints are in two folds, firstly, strange movement with pains in your left breast and secondly, small breasts that you said look like that of a 13-year-old girl.

If I may ask you, how does a 13-year-old girl breasts look like and why the comparison? I want to believe that you have not embarked on breast enlargement therapy or at present on any self-prescribed enlargement pills as it is the practice of some girls. Such unethical practices could have a long term negative effects on your health. The size of breast is hormonal and with time, probably when you begin to have children, the size would change.

For strange movement in your left breast, you may have to see an obstetrics and gynaecology expert probably for breast scan to ascertain whether you don’t have initial development of lump in your breast (God forbid). It could also be as a result of minor infection which can be corrected with mild antibiotics as would be prescribed for you by a competent medical expert.

On a final note, what you called a strange movement might be an allergy reaction. Only medical examination would reveal the true identity of your problem.
