Share

I am 46 years old. I am addicted to Lipton tea. I drink it more than 5 times every day without sugar or milk. Kindly let me know the implications to my system now or in the future.

Although Tea is good for you especially since it contains antioxidants, it also has some amount of caffeine. This is the drug that is found in coffee. It is the same drug that causes the kind of addiction found among tea drinkers.

The implication to your system is that over time, you may develop some of the signs and symptoms of addiction. These include, Muscle tremors, Headaches, Nervousness, Restlessness, Irritability, Nausea, Fast or Irregular Heartbeats as well as poor sleeping patterns in some cases.

You may continue drinking your favourite tea but try and reduce the amount of tea to about 2-4 cups a day. You can also reduce degree of the nicotine in your tea by either reducing the concentration of the tea or by adding some milk.
