I want to thank you for all your quality advice and suggestions for your readers. However, it is not everybody that can afford to go and see a doctor or attend a Laboratory. In view of this, it will be appreciated if you can kindly prescribe cheap and affordable drugs for those of  us who are poor students, if it is not against the ethics of your profession.

Thanks Ibrahim. Although I would have loved to prescribe affordable drugs for those who need help from this column, I cannot do this for one major reason.  The reason is that although some ailments are easy to confirm and treat, several others need proper analysis before they can be properly diagnosed and treated.  Before a doctor can prescribe any drug for a patient, he/she must have seen and examined the patient. The next step is to order for some investigations which will confirm the doctor’s initial diagnosis. All these steps must be carried out before a prescription is given. If you now say that because you cannot afford to see a doctor or go to the Laboratory I should just write a prescription for you without examining you, I will just be doing a guess work. This you will agree with me is very dangerous since I may end up giving you a wrong prescription. It will be better for you to spare some money to take care of your health, rather than to worsen your condition through a wrong prescription.
