My girlfriend is currently treating Staphylococcus Aureaus and is accusing me of infecting her. I want to know if truly, Staph is a Sexually Transmitted Disease. If not, where can one contract it? Is it curable? What are the effects if left untreated.

Although Staphylococcus infection is common all over the body, it rarely causes Urinary Tract Infections and by extension, Sexually Transmitted Infections. Due to its widespread existence all over the body, the infection is usually misdiagnosed and often mistakenly associated with other forms of infections. It is also important to point out that Staph Aureus is a normal organism in many parts of the body especially, the skin. It is only when it develops into a very high load or gets access into the body through a wound that it develops into an infection. My advice will be for you and your girl friend to repeat a blood test in a well-equipped Laboratory, especially one that is attached to a Teaching Hospital nearest to you.
