Ruling On 170-Count Charge Against Ibori Now Nov 23

Despite the strike action embarked by judiciary workers nationwide, further hearing on the case involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori and others, held at the Federal High Court, Asaba, on Friday, has been adjourned.

The judge, Justice Marcel Awokulehin, was billed to deliver a ruling brought by a defence counsel on whether to quash or not the 170-count charge preferred against the former governor.

The judge, who adjourned the ruling to November 23, said that the adjournment was necessitated by a seminar planned for judges and valedictory session for the out-going Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Idris Kutigi, that would take place within the month.

Chief Ibori was docked along with others, but a principal accused, Mrs. Udoamaka Okoronkwo, who is now standing trial in a London court, was not present in the court.
