Eaglets rally back to life - Hold Germany to 3-3 draw

Photo: FIFAIT was a night of drama in Abuja yesternight when Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets rallied from three goals down to hold Germany 3-3 in a Group A match.

The Germans silenced the fans leading by 2-0 in the first half. As if that was not bad enough, Germany added the third in the early minute of the second half but that happened to be the beginning of Germans nightmare.

Robert Labus got the marching order after a professional foul committed in his penalty box as Stanley Okoro coolly converted the penalty in the 54th minute.

Okoro reduced Nigeria’s tally in the 57th minute while substitute Omeruo scored the equaliser in the 59th minute.

However, after Slfko Diam Musiafi scored Germany’s second goal, the home fans who had been mobilised to cheer the Eaglets, started trooping out of the stadium.

‘’I can’t afford another nightmare, I am going home,’’ one of the fans told Sunday Tribunesports. Lennary Thy had earlier silenced the cheering fans when he headed Germany’s first goal.

The fans who prefered to stay back booed the Eaglets massively as the Nigerian lads continued to make mistakes. Dan Amokachi, however blasted the home fans.

‘’That is not the way to support a team,’’ he remarked.
