The power of the Most High

BUT God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6).

A short while after the resurrection of Christ Jesus, He came to His disciples with a strong announcement to affirm that He’s the Lord of the universe, “all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth”, and He said it with authority.

Our Lord Jesus Christ died; and the power of God reversed the process and power of death and brought Jesus from death never to die again. The resurrection of Christ Jesus was the actual demonstration of the power of the Most High.

In the context of human belief, death is an irreversible incident; when a man dies, his vision perishes. The worst thing that can happen to a man is death. “For we must needs die, and are as water split on the ground” (II Samuel 14:14), and that is why the Bible says that the last enemy that would be destroyed is death. Jesus Christ submitted Himself to death to fulfil the ultimate plan of God for redemption of mankind. The power of God brought Jesus Christ alive from the dead, and nullified the power of death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the exhibition of the great power of God (Ephesians 2:4-6).

As a consequence, you are sitting together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, far above all principalities, all power of witches and wizards, all dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also the world to come. Therefore, as a reality, where you are located now, you are seated with Christ Jesus.

All power in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ Jesus (Matthew 28:18), not some power, not a little power, but all power ‘He has all power and He’s beside you;’ he said in the scriptures that “I will be with you always, and even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). Jesus Christ is in you, “Christ in you the hope of glory” (Colossian 1:27), and your life is in Him. Since Christ is in you and you are hid in Him, anything that wants to attack you will have to pass through Christ Jesus, and as such, it can never get to you.

However, you can never conquer the world you are afraid of; there is the need for you to cast off all fear that has held you down, “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day” (Psalm; 91:5), when the devil attacks you, the devil is doing his job, your job is to resist the devil, and he must flee away from you. You have been equipped with greater power, enforce this greater power in you against all adversaries, the devil is to flee and not you.

And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

Gen. 31:7. In Nigeria, what Laban did for Jacob here is called salary decrease. This man called Laban, tormented this young boy. When this young boy came to Laban's country he was to be earning, say, N10,000. After the first second year it became N8,000 (It was reducing may be every two years). Don't forget that Jacob was having more responsibilities with each year - more and more children to take care of. Laban planned for Jacob to come to zero level.

That was the master plan of Laban for Jacob. To go back home to his country empty and that guy screamed and said, ‘please let me go’. Enough is enough. Within 20 years his wages had been changed 10 times. Somebody is reading this book and knows that his life has been deteriorating, the story of Jacob perfectly describes you. Wherever you are today, come out in Jesus name.

There are people abroad who after going for several training and doing industrial attachments they reject them for jobs they are applying for because they are 'over-certificated.’ When they came in they had been told their papers were not enough, now papers are too many for the jobs they want.

Unfortunately, their relatives at home believe that things are rosy for them and so expect so much from them but they themselves know they haven't arrived. Jacob was like that, every one who saw him looked at him and said 'this is the person taking care of Laban's wealth, he must be a multi billionaire', yet his salary was being reduced every two years to the point that the master plan of Laban for his life was on course. Jacob then said 'let me go; enough is enough'. Some people are like this - reducing financially, some maritally, some socially, some in their career with each passing year. To do many things is difficult now, they had to borrow to survive and most terribly they can't tell everybody what they are passing through. They prayed and asked God, 'where are you?' They have fasted but it was as if they are not fasting, they kept believing that next year would be better, five years ago they had been believing like that still nothing is getting better.
