The Ondo State government has revealed that its cocoa revolution project will soon berth with the production of chocolate which will be 70 per cent cocoa, even as the state House of Assembly awaits the Cocoa Revolution Project Bill from the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
The state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, while speaking with newsmen on the project in Akure, at the weekend, said already, the project was beginning to take shape with modalities for the chocolate production concluded, adding that the state governor would present the bill on the programme to the House of Assembly “any moment from now.”
The commissioner said the project would see the state producing chocolate, a development, he said, would be an avenue for job creation in the state.
Akinmade noted that Governor Mimiko would soon present the Cocoa Revolution Bill that would authorise the state Cocoa Revolution Project, to the legislators thus, enabling government to actualise its decision to make Cocoa farmers in the state reap the fruits of their labour and by implication, make for the production of chocolate in the state.
