One of the old-est chains of the Western Hotels of Nigeria Limited and a subsidiary of Odua Groups of Company, Lafia Hotel, Apata, Ibadan, has taken the bull by the horns to reposition itself and retain its status as one of the best customer-driven hospitality outfits in the South-West of Nigeria.

This step, was coming on the heels of the recent repositioning that brought in Mr. Mike Onipede as the new General Manager of the hotel. According to Onipede, who is a seasoned administrator with years of experience in hotel management techniques and innovation, "Lafia hotel is one of the prides of the South-West, which has sustained its household status for over 50 years and we will not allow that name to go down.

"Though, for obvious reasons, the hotel has suffered some setbacks in recent times, with the new crop of management, we assure you that the Lafia you used to know is bouncing back in grand style. “Immediately I resumed duty as the GM, I knew that a lot of things were wrong with the system, so, I tried to see that they were given adequate attention and looked into staff operations to make sure that it was in line with what was obtainable elsewhere.

“We are putting things back in shape to see  that the memory of what the hotel has offered in the past through quality and comfortable service are brought back, with a blend of modern touches to attract and meet customers’ demands at all times.”

Onipede disclosed that efforts are underway to commence training and retraining of staff  in new areas of satisfying customers better. He added that if an hotel had the best of facilities with the right attitude of service culture and routine, it would not remain stagnant.

“We have also put into consideration areas of reassuring our patrons of our readiness to give them a treat of personalised services with different  customer value added packages,” he added.  Onipede disclosed that they have a crop of seasoned staffers who are always ready to ensure maximum satisfaction of the deluge customers of the hotel. "Trainning and re-trainning of staffers are given priority in this hotel," he assured.
