Princess Shade Adeyemi, one of the daughters of   the Alaafin of Oyo, HRM, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, has come out with a blueprint for promoting the cultural value, norms and mores of West Africa using the teledensity of the cultural valve of the Yoruba race as the theme.

The  princess of Oyo is rolling out the drums for hosting the first West African Tourism of Arts and Culture (WESATAC) with the theme, “Yoruba:  Paragon of a Unique Essence.”

“It is all about letting the world know what makes the Yoruba the best of all cultures. Our essence of being a unique race lies in our culture and tradition. The cultural-tourism package will highlight various cultural structures and affiliates that make the Yoruba culture, the super structure of all cultures.”

She said that WESATAC aimed at oiling the burning furnace of the Yoruba culture and salvaging it from the rabid erosion of its components by the rampaging fire of cultural colonisation highly facilitated by modern trends and telecommunication.

Princess  Adeyemi revealed that “WESATAC is for the enhancement of the race and will, among others,   focus on the young ones who are daily  being bombarded by foreign cultures and  having no much knowledge about what makes them  great as Yoruba people.”

She said her organisation, Ojulowo Heritage, had been on the drawing board, preparing the ground work for the inauguration of WESATAC.

“Ojulowo Heritage has been working. We are making sure that relevant organisations, corporate companies, traditional organisations and individuals relevant to the programme are contacted and connected.”

Princess Adeyemi disclosed that “We are going to lay  our cards on the table of some organisations which must not only be informed of the project but also must be involved; the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) under Chief Olusegun Runsewe and the Centre for Black Arts and African Civilisation, (CEBAAC) under Professor Olatunde  Babawale.

Princess Adeyemi, who has been invited  as a Special Guest of Honor  to the official launching of Eryca Freemantile’s programme in Ghana, will use the event to intimate the government and the people of Ghana to her pet project aimed at showcasing the points of linkage of the Yoruba culture with the rest of Africa.

Princess Adeyemi, who studied Marketing/Management at California, State University, Northridge,USA, disclosed that her urge to showcase to the world, the intrinsic values and greatness of the Yoruba culture was also borne out of her experience in the US, where she stayed for many years.

 She said: “I thank God almighty for my cultural background which locates me first and foremost in Yorubaland and secondly, as a blue blood scion of the great Oduduwa. I was in America for many years and this has enabled me to experience and have the feel of many cultures. Having visited many countries and climes, I have not seen or felt or experienced  or read about any culture as awesomely rich, socially responsible and economically vibrant as the Yoruba culture. It is one culture which is an embodiment of virtues,  having all the norms and mores of making a society saner and better place to live.”

She pointed out that “throughout my peregrination and junketing for the golden fleece, the intrinsic Yoruba tradition and values always radiate in me and push me out of the crowd. This has opened doors of opportunities  and cultivated respect, adoration and dignity for me.”

She recalled that “There are many places where I travelled to and without a pre knowledge of my background  and people, I mean the Europeans  always ask,’ Oh, Shade, you are great and unique. What’s up ? The fact is that a typical Yoruba is an epitome of virtues, decency and reasonability, no matter his background, political and religious affiliation.”

Princess Adeyemi said, “My mission in showcasing the tangible and intangible elements of the Yoruba culture in West – Africa is to further lubricate its super relationship and linkage with the West Coast front.”

Talking about her being invited as a Special Guest of Honour at Eryca Freemantile launching in Ghana. Princess Adeyemi said “Eryca is a  one of the most wonderful celebrities in the world. She is an internationally recognised and respected motivator , a multi – talented lady who has used her profile to raise hope for the hopeless. She has been invited by the government of Ghana to establish in Accra. Eryca and I share a lot in common. I feel highly honoured for the invitation.
