Sanusi, Akpabio: It is good to be good

Share

When Sanusi Lamido Sanusi took over the mantle of leadership at the nation’s apex bank, some Nigerians, as usual, took up ethnic lenses to preview his tenure and/or mission. Many things were said by some Nigerians to portray the new CBN Governor’s appointment as a misnomer. Today, Sanusi is being celebrated not only in Nigeria but globally.

No wonder, when top Tribune editorial staff met to decide who should merit the 61-year old company’s man of the year award, it was Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who dwarfed other nominees on the scale of the very stringent criteria put forward as the deciding factors. This is a man who remains unflinchingly focused in spite of criticisms, outright mischief and even threats to his personality in the service of his fatherland. It is good to be good!

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State is another statesman that attracted the assessment lenses of the Tribune.

Governor Akpabio, in spite of all odds, has been able to make lasting impacts on his people in the art of governance at state level in the last three and a half years. This is the man who has been making use of the petrol-naira at his disposal to the benefit of his people. No wonder, he also emerged as the Tribune’s Governor of the Year. Surely, it is good to be good!
