Mrs Omobola Johnson, Minister of Communication Technology has revealed the that the Federal Government has not changed its position that those who will dare to assemble or manufacture ICT products in Nigeria have zero duty ahead of them to enjoy.

She made this revelation last Friday in Lagos while on a visit to the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, adding that once manufacturers are genuinely assembling from completely knocked parts, they are entitled to tax holiday.

She described her experience at the village as amazing, stating that the retail experience compares with any other in developed countries of the world.

“I’m so amazed by the standard of the market. I’m amazed by the quality of the retail shops. It is like being anywhere in the world when you enter a shop,” Mrs Johnson said.

She said her greatest disappointment was that she could not see a reasonable number of Nigerian brands at the market.

“We (Nigerian products) also need to get in the market and that is very important. That is why I really want to work with the dealers’ association, that is the Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN), so that we have Nigerian brands visible in the market,” she added.

Mrs Johnson commended the dealers saying that they are doing well right now and that and that the government will work with them to make things better.
