Kastina govt releases N9m for Sports Festival
KATSINA State Sports Council has invited and camped athletes in preparations for the forthcoming National Sports Festival zonal elimination competition slated for next month.
The state director of sports, Alhaji Nalado Iro Kankia who stated in this exclusive interview with newsmen in Katsina, said already government had approved the release of N9 million for the zonal elimination competition.
Kankia explained that, athletes are presently in camp and undergoing training, as the best out of them would be selected to represent the state.
According to him, 192 athletes would be selected at the end of the camping, while 34 officials would also oversee their affairs.
He said the state athletes would participate in all the games which include football, basketball, hockey, handball and volleyball amongst others.
Kankia however expressed optimism, that the athletes will make the Katsina proud during the zonal elimination competition.
