All eyes on Team Nigeria's Ekpo

altNIGERIA'S representative in the weightlifting event of the London 2012 Olympics, Ekpo Felix, is set to salvage the country's situation as far as performance in the games is concerned, just as Nigeria is yet to win a medal on day six of the Olympics.

Felix would battle for glory against the likes of Pavlov Kirill of Kazakhstan, Perive Toafitu from Samao, Mata Perez Andres Eduardo of Spain and Oliver Jack who hoisting the flag of Great Britain in the Men's 77 kg weightlifting category beginning from 10:am today at Excel Centre, London.

All eyes would be on the Nigerian weightlifter as he would be doing the country a great favour by winning a medal in order to console the country having lost out in the table tennis and boxing and events.

Tribunesports recalled that table tennis duo of Segun Toriola and Aruna Quadri could not win a medal for Nigeria having failed to qualify to the next stage of the event. Also, Funke Oshonaike and Edem Effiong's efforts did not see the light of the day in the table tennis female category as they could not advance to the next stage. Boxing duo of Muideen Akanji and Lawan Lukman could not win any medal for Nigeria as lost their bouts.
