NEXT month’s friendly between Nigeria and Gabon is likely to be moved as it is too close to a busy month of qualifiers, officials said.

The friendly between the Eagles and the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations co-hosts was scheduled to be played on May 27 in Libreville at the instance of Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba.

But Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) general secretary Musa Amadu told MTNFootball.com that they are now having second thought over the game because it is too close to June, when Nigeria will play three straight important qualifiers.

"We have not concluded with the Gabon game. We are having second thought over the game due to its nearness to the Eagles busy June schedule," he said.

Musa, however confirmed that all arrangements for another friendly in Lima, Peru, next month have been concluded.

"But I can confirm to you that the May 23 game against Peru has been finalised,” he disclosed.

“We are putting these games together to ensure that the Eagles are in top shape because the three games in June would go a long way in determining our participation at the AFCON 2013 and the World Cup in 2014."

Nigeria takes on Namibia, Malawi and Rwanda in a busy three weeks in June.
