SERBIAN manager, Milovan Rajevac has quit as the coach of Ghana after two years with the Black Stars.

MTNFootball can exclusively report that Rajevac has signed a contract with wealthy Saudi side Al Ahly Jeddah worth US$4.5 million.

The 54-year-old confirmed his exit after sending a text message to the president of the Ghana FA,  Kwasi Nyantakyi on Wednesday to inform him of his decision.

Club president, Prince Khalid bin Fahd has confirmed that he signed a three-year contract despite a four year contract offer from Ghana.

This means the Black Stars need a new coach ahead of next month’s clash with Sudan in Accra.

According to reports in the Saudi media, Rajevac was expected in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night in the company of a British agent.

He jumped ship after opting to sign for Saudi Arabian side, Al Ahly without the blessing of his agent, Goran Milovanovic which has sparked a tug-of-war.

His agent wanted him to sign the four-year contract proposed by the Ghana Football Association but Rajevac wanted to go for the money by signing for Al Ahly. He is expected to be unveiled this week by Al Ahly. His first game in charge of the side will be on  September 16 when Al Ahly clash with their city rivals Al Ittihad Jeddah.

The coach’s contract expired on August 17 and the Serbian has continued to work without the new deal being signed.

Rajevac took a relatively young Black Stars team to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in February.

He also led the team to the quarter finals of the World Cup later in South Africa.
