My mother’s friend is harrassing me sexually

Dear Taiwo,
I am 17, I have just finished my Secondary School certificate examination(SSCE). I have a problem that I don’t know how I can discuss with my mother; because I don’t know if she would believe me or how she would take it.
The problem is about an uncle who is my mother’s friend and colleague in the office. For about three months now he has been sending love text messages to me. I told him to stop sending me text messages as I am not interested. He, however, stopped when I threatened to show my mother his text messages only to call at odd hours to speak with me, sometimes at midnight.
Should I tell my mother about it?.

Dear Susan,
I am shocked at you, I don’t know what type of relationship you share with your mother, but I am of the opinion that she should be the first person to know about this development because you have enough evidence. The ‘uncle’s’ text messages are enough evidence to let your mother know what was going on. If you have deleted them, I wonder why you did without showing your mother.
However, it is not too late. Tell your mother what is happening. You can also allow her to listen to his telephone conversations with you. If you have a multi-funtional phone, you can also record his conversations as evidence.
Be open to your mother. Whatever the situation, she must be your confidant and best friend.
