THE senator representing Abia North senatorial zone of Abia State, Uche Chukwumerije, has returned, alongside members of his constituents, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It will be recalled that Senator Chukwumerije defected from the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) alongside the state governor, Chief Theodore Orji, at a ceremony in Umuahia, recently.

Rising from a one-day forum on the current political development in Abia State, stakeholders in the zone resolved that all members of APGA, who recently left the PPA should join the PDP.

The politicians met in Umuahia, at the weekend, at the instance of Senator Chukwumerije and agreed that economic starvation and political blockage affecting the state could be addressed when the state returned to the mainstream of Nigeria politics.

The people, who said they were members of the PDP before joining PPA in 2006, added that they would have been talking of Igbo presidency by now if they had remained in the PDP.

On the impending move of Governor Theodore Orji to defect to the PDP, they resolved to move with the governor whenever he decided to do so, adding that it would be in the interest of the state and its people.
