Sanusi is misleading Nigerians -NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said, on Thursday, that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi, is misleading Nigerians on his comments on the deregulation of the downstream sector of oil industry and electricity tariff.

In a statement signed by its Acting Head of Information, Comrade Onah Iduh, the NLC said Sanusi’s recent comment were misleading and anti-people.

Comrade Onah said: “The NLC sees these recent comments by Mallam Sanusi as highly misleading and totally anti-people in the face of excruciating mass poverty in the land. While we hold Mallam Sanusi in very high esteem for what we interpret to be his deep sense of patriotism, we are gradually becoming very uncomfortable with his utterances which have come to portray him as an arrowhead of government’s anti-people policies.”

The statement continues: “The attention of the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has, once again, been drawn to some comments by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

“The CBN governor had, on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, while receiving the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mr Austen Oniwon, stated that deregulation of the downstream sector of the petroleum industry was inevitable.”
