ANPP shifts convention again

Share

The embattled leadership of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) was forced to postpone its national convention for the second time on Thursday,  as the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)  insisted that due process must be followed in the conduct of the convention.

It was confirmed on Thursday, that INEC insisted that the planned convention could not take place today as planned because the ANPP had not complied with a three week notice granted by the electoral law.

ANPP had initially written the electoral commission two weeks ago to intimate it of its plan to conduct the National Convention.

But sources confirmed that when the ANPP leaders wrote INEC to inform it of the postponement two weeks ago, it did not immediately pick a date and that when ANPP leaders arrived Abuja on Wednesday, INEC communicated them to indicate that the deadline of three weeks had to be complied with.
