THE Minister of Labour and Productivity,  Chief  Chukwuemeka Wogu, has said that all the states of the country will  definitely pay the new minimum wage, as his ministry has fashioned out modalities for the implementation by the states.

Speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday, the minister noted that  his ministry has fashioned out an implementation guideline  idea which would be taken to state in order to enable them to pay the minimum wage salary scale to their workers .

Chief  Wogu  who  was in Ilorin on a working visist  to the Michael Imoudu National  Institute  for Labour  Studies (MINILS) opined  that   the Federal Government was determined to improve on workers  welfare across the country.

He  said the Federal Government  had captured  the increase  in workers salary in the supplementary budget, noting it  had been approved and was already in the 2010 budget.

According to him, government is now yielding to the yearning and aspiration of the workers adding that this was done as a result of the promise made by President Gooldluk Jonathan to restore the dignity of labour.

He  commended  the management  of Michael Imoudu National  Institute  for Labour  Studies (MINILS)  for the giant stride it had put in place to ensure ttht the institute contributed to the development of workers in the country.

He  also  thanked the management  for the wisdom in initating and executing projects that were relevant to the  development of manpower.

He assured the management of the support of the ministry at all time in its effort of ensuring that  the institute was taken to greater height .

In his address  of welcome, the Director–General of the institute, Dr Niyi  Olanrewaju, commended the minister for finding out time to visit the institute and see things for himself .

He said the institute had  from inception trained about 20,000 workers from both the private and public sectors.

He said the  management had set for itself the target of making the institute a regional centre of excellence  for labour education.
