Lam’s health now stable - UCH

THE management of University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has assured that the health status of the ailing former governor of Oyo State and chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Alhaji Lam Adesina, is now stable.

Dr Abiodun Otegbayo, chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, UCH, who gave the assurance on Thursday, said “he is quite stable and we are hoping that he will recover fully.”

Although Alhaji Adesina was taken to the hospital in an emergency situation on Wednesday night, Dr Otegbayo said “he was really bad when he came in, but with the intervention of the medical team and the nurses, his situation is much better now.”

While expressing optimism that Alhaji Adesina should be out of the hospital in a few weeks time, Otegbayo said it was difficult to determine his exact time of stay in the hospital.

“It is difficult for doctors to say when he would be discharged, unlike when it is a planned intervention. He came in as an emergency. It depends on how he responds and most of the time, old people respond more slowly than young people,” he said.

The former governor, who before now had a chronic illness, was said to have been got another infection, as Otegbayo said “the two precipitated the emergency situation, but he is quite stable.”
