2013 budget: Jonathan submits medium term expenditure framework to Senate

Ahead of the presentation of the 2013 budget, President Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday, submitted the 2013-2015 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy paper to the Senate.

He informed in the letter that the preparation for the submission of the 2013 budget to the National Assembly had since commenced with the activities leading to the preparation of the 2013-2015 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

Jonathan also forwarded the Terrorism (Prevention) (Amendment) Bill and a bill for an Act to amend the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 and other related matters to the Senate.

The president, in a letter dated July 30, 2012, asked for the Senate’s consideration and enactment of the two bills into law.

Furthermore, the names of Alhaji Ya’u Usman Jama’a, representing Kaduna State and Mr Aliyu Datti, representing Niger State were forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as members of the National Population Commission(NPC).

Alhaji Jama’a is replacing Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, the former member representing Kaduna State, who resigned his appointment in March 2012, while Mr Datti is replacing Alhaji M.Liman, whose appointment as a commissioner with the commission expired in October last year.

The name of Honourable Nnoli Nnaji was also forwarded by the president to the Senate for confirmation as a replacement for Honourable Jerry Ugokwe, who subsequent upon his confirmation declined the offer.

Also, the name of Alhaji Hassan Usman Sokodabo, was forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as a member of the Federal Civil Service Commission for Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory.
