ONDO State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has said leaders of opposition party in the state are being driven by their expansionist tendency and the desire to annex the state to their treasure-throve.

Mimiko, who was in Ile-Oluji, headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of the state, in continuation of his campaign tour, told the people that the desire by a particular political party to annex Ondo State was to include it in its empire in the South-West.

He, however, told the opposition to forget the thought of capturing the state, while assuring them of a resounding defeat on October 20.

The governor expressed disappointment over the plan of the opposition to capture the state, describing the statement as arrogant, a slur and an affront on a highly sophisticated and enlightened people of the state.

He posited that the people of Ondo State were not animals that could be captured and caged as the opposition were posturing.

Mimiko, however, assured that the people were waiting at the poll to make a statement for freedom, as opposed to neo-colonialism, democracy as against oligarchy and rule of an emperor.

He said the opposition party was ready to take over the state, not because of his non-performance, but because he refused to become a member.

In another development, the vice-president, Yoruba Community, Kano, Chief Jerry Agunbiade, has said there is no cause for alarm for Mimiko to secure a second term, saying that the electorate would surprise his detractors.

Chief Agunbiade disclosed this while speaking with pressmen in Kano, on Thursday, adding that “God has ordained victory for Governor Mimiko, because he has performed.”

He said by getting a second term, Mimiko would be able to complete various programmes initiated by his administration.

This deceptive man should tell the people what and what he intends and can do to the people of the state not all these theoretic.
