MAJOR-GENERAL Muhammadu Buhari (retd), presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 presidential election, has lamented the security challenges facing the ancient city of Kano as having devastating effects on the northern states and neighbouring countries which depended on Kano for commercial activities.

This is just as the Kano State governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said it was the responsibilty of leaders to find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing the country

Buhari said he was in Kano to sympatise with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero and the state government over attacks which claimed many lives.

According to him, “I am here to commissarate with them over the bombings that rocked the state. It is extremly sad and I hope we would get over it as soon as possible.”

Buhari disclosed that it was on record that over 200 articulated vehicles used to leave Kano everyday to Maiduguri and there in Maiduguri, traders from Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic would always be waiting to recieve their goods from Kano, but now, the situation was not the case.

general, if you had condemned the insecurity when it started, it would not have deteriorated to the level it is now; than you called it mass action, what are we saying? You are a prime cause of northern problem.
