Boko Haram: Christians will take up arms if … -Catholic cleric

CATHOLIC Archbishop of Owerri, Imo State, His Grace, Most Reverend Anthony J.V. Obinna, has said if the killing of Christians in the North by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, continues unabated, Christians would take up arms to protect themselves.

He made the statement in a press briefing to announce the annual Nkuzi Odenigbo lecture, scheduled to hold on Saturday in Owerri.

According to him, despite all provocations against Christianity by the Islamic sect, Christians had continued to remain quiet.

He said though it was the responsibility of every government to protect the life and property of its citizens, if the Nigerian government failed to do so, it would be held responsible.

He, however, lauded the Federal Government over the planned negotiation with Boko Haram, as a way to return peace to the country.
