Police parade 8 suspected illegal oil bunkerers in Kogi •Recover 11 fuel-laden trucks

KOGI State police command, on Tuesday, paraded eight suspected oil bunkerers, just as the command declared four others wanted, in connection with the vandalisation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline on Osara-Lokoja road.
The state Commissioner of Police, Moham-med Katsina, said some of the bunkerers were arrested while vandalising the pipeline, while he condemned bunkering activities.
The command, according to him, also recovered 11 trucks loaded with 3,000 litres of crude oil, adding that the suspects would be handed to the special task force of the Federal Government.
The state police boss regretted that the result of the illegal activities, if not arrested, would have been too dangerous for the aquatic habitats and those living along the riverine area, while promising that the command would continue to be on the trail of such criminals.
The paraded suspects were Attah Yakubu, Timothy Akpai, Danlami Sani, Usman Mohammed, Haruna Yakubu, Abdul-kadir Musa, Kabiru Ahmed and Kazeem Abdullahi, while Yusuf Yahaya, the ring leader; Abuh, Abiodun and Christian, whose surnames were yet to be ascertained, were at large.
Also paraded along with the bunkerers were one male and one female car snatchers, who were apprehended by the state after the owner of the car monitored them from Warri, Delta State, through car tracker.
The trucks recovered by the command were Mack with registration number XA 23 UWN; Leyland, EPE 474 XA; Mack, XA 736 LND; Half, XA 116 KAG and Man with registration number XA 560 DTM.
Others were DAF 85 with registration number XE 77 EPE; DAF 95, XA 586 BKA; Mack, XP 169 FST; DAF 95, XB 608 LKJ; Man, XC 269 ASB and Mack, with registration number XA 710 DBM
The police boss called on owners of the trucks to report at the state CID, Lokoja, within the next seven days.
