PDP backs Ahmed on land policy

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has backed the decision of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to suspend the implementation of the state’s urbanisation law.

Speaking at a meeting with the staff of the Bureau of Lands in Ilorin on Tuesday, the chairman of PDP in the state, Honourable Ishola Balogun-Fulani, who was in the company of the chairman of the PDP Elders Forum, Alhaji Oba Bolanta, commended the prompt response of Governor Ahmed to the concerns raised by stakeholders on the land policy through the suspension of the application of the law.

A statement signed by the PDP’s publicity secretary, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, said the party’s leaders met with the management of the state Bureau of Lands with a view to resolving the misgivings associated with the suspended land policy.

“The review required by stakeholders would be adequately and promptly looked into with a view to meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

“The meeting also commended the wisdom of members of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) for their readiness to work with the state government in its determination to ensure that all areas of concerned are properly addressed and resolved.

“With this meeting, all issues concerning the alleged sales of Eid praying ground, which was verified and found to be false, are equally resolved and dismissed in its entirety, with the assurance that the government would continue to pursue policies that would improve the well-being of all and sundry.”
