A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoenia, has declared that the former governor of Oyo State and Accord Party leader in the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, against widespread belief, is not sincere about re-joining the PDP in the state.

Olopoenia, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune during the Eid el fitri celebration, revealed that Senator Ladoja had, all the while, been working against the party in the state.

According to him, “Many people will not believe that Senator Ladoja, who claimed that the party leaders in the state failed to meet certain conditions he agreed with some national party leaders recently, almost threw the party out of its present state secretariat in Ibadan. He can't give us conditions, he left and we stayed to make the party more patronising, that's why he wanted a return. If conditions would apply, we should be the one giving him conditions to meet.

“He even went to pay for the rent of our secretariat with the intention of painting the secretariat in the colours of Accord party. Can you say such person is planning to return to the PDP? His plan is to destabilise the PDP and make Accord party stronger. If not for the effort of some party leaders, he would have sent us packing from that secretariat and painted it with Accord colours.”

Olopoenia said all the warring factions in the party had put all issues behind them and were working for the interest of the party. “We've settled our rancour. All warring factions have buried their hatchets but he is not aware because he is not part of us.”

The PDP chieftain further added that Senator Ladoja was seeking undue relevance by coming out to accuse both the PDP and the current governor of the state of failure to implement agreements. “What is in vogue now is that everybody is trying to curry the governor's favour.

I don't think Senator Ajimobi with almost two years as the state governor needs support from people like Senator Ladoja to run the state effectvely,” he said.
