FORMER military president, General Ibrahim Baban-gida, at the weekend, enjoined Nigerians to continue to pray for the continued survival of Nigeria, saying that “we have no other country that we can call our own.”

Babangida, who restated his belief in the indivisibility of the country, also challenged Nigerians to ensure Nigeria remains one indivisible entity.

Speaking when he received the acting governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, who led a delegation of the state government to his Minna residence, to felicitate with him on his birthday, Babangida said there was hope that Nigeria would become one of the greatest countries, not only in Africa but the entire world.

“We should pray for the survival of Nigeria. We have to work together as a people, we must make it (Nigeria) work. Anything you can do to keep Nigeria together, do it; the country will be better for it,” he said.

The former military president expressed gratitude to the government and people of Niger State and all Nigerians for identifying with him, saying that he would continue to remain committed to the country.

Speaking earlier, the deputy governor had said the government and people of the state would continue to appreciate the landmarks General Babangida made in the history of the country, especially in economic and political developments and social regeneration.

Ibeto said Babangida had taught Nigerians how to continue to pursue policy and programmes that would bring about national unity and development, saying that Nigeria would continue to rely on his wisdom.

Prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Minna, Alhaji Abu Fari, who also offered prayers for the peace and unity of Nigeria and the repose of the late wife of General Babangida, Maryam.

Among those at the residence were diplomats; former Managing Director of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Umoru Ndanusa; vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, Alhaji Tanko Beji; Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta; Senator Abbdulmalik Ndayako; Secretary to the Niger State Government, Mr Daniel Shashere, among others.

IBB, I got news for you. Nigeria MUST break up wether you like it or not. The South ha nothing in common with the Hausa/foolani north. Even the Middle Belt has absolutely nothing in common with the 12 sharia states north. The president of Sudan used to say South Sudan can never break away from the rest of Sudan. The Soviet Union said the same. Now what is the verdict? So Mr. foolhead, brace for the eventuality.

when satan calls for prayer, one could not help wondering, which prayer. While develish IBB was calling for prayer, the hypocrite Yakubu Gowon is praying already. They can deceive the Nigerian public, but they cannot deceive GOD. The Holy Bible says that, a house with a poor foundation is bound to collapse. IBB, you are correct, but come to think of it, if Nigeria was your mother or father, who has been sick for 52 years, and you have been praying to your god to spare his or her life and nothing seems to be happening as examplified by Nigeria situation, has the time not come to let them die before YOU died before your parents?
