Public-private sector partnership to create jobs - Gov Obi

Governor Peter Obi has said hisadministration will continue to partner with individuals and organisations with initiatives that will create employment opportunities.

Governor Obi was speaking at the graduation ceremony and distribution of cheques totaling N20 millin to the first batch of Awka Etiti trainees of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Entrepreneur Development Centre, at Awka Etiti Town Hall, on Tuesday.

The scheme is one of the empowerment programmes of Akiota Works Ltd, in which  100 beneficiaries were trained free of charge and provided with revolving interest-free loans repayable after two years.

Governor Obi said the programme was in line with the vision of his administration to empower people to fight poverty in the drive to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) target.

He challenged other privileged individuals to contribute to rebuilding the society and strengthen the economy.
