The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has fully adopted the second stanza of the National Anthem as the official prayer at all public functions.

The Minister of Environment, Hajia Hadiza Mailafia, disclosed this when she visited the Director-General (DG), National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Mike Omeri.

Hajia Mailafia said FEC now recited the second stanza of the National Anthem as a national prayer in all its meetings and was committed to ensuring that all public functions followed this example.

NOA had been advocating the adoption of a national prayer at public functions to engender the spirit of cohesion and unity, especially in supplication to God.

According to the DG of NOA, the practice of saying separate prayers by different religious faiths at public functions divided the group ab initio along religious lines.

Earlier the Ogun and Niger states governors, Ibikunle Amosun and Babangida Aliyu, respectively, had similarly adopted the second stanza as the official prayer at all public functions and schools in their states.

The minister, who recited the new national prayer, commended NOA for championing the campaign and urged the agency not to relent in its efforts to promote patriotism, love and respect for national symbols.

These government officials are stealing the country blind,however in the mean time they wants us to patriotic. This must be another GEJ joke.

Mr. Journalist, your story is half complete because the so-called national prayer was missing in your article. If your role is to inform and educate the public, you have not done so. You can't just assume that folks knows what you are talking about; you have to incorporate the lines of the second stanza of the national anthem in your article to adequately inform the people.
