Terrorism: NSCDC takes proactive security measures in Sokoto

Alhaji Aminu Soro, the Sokoto State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) said, on Tuesday, that proactive security measures had been adopted to confront terrorist attacks in the state.

"We have deployed anti-bomb disposal units to all public building and plain security personnel to gather intelligence  reports for the build-up of security in the state," he said.

Soro told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the move would ensure the arrest of criminals  at a stage where such crime was on planning stage.

He said the officer and men of the command had been placed on  the alert to sustain the peaceful nature the state was known for through various forms of security strategies for the people to move about their normal activities without hindrance.

He added that the aim of the exercise was to prepare the officers, confront and deal with any security threat.

Soro solicited the support and cooperation  of the members of the public to come out with vital information of dubious characters in their midst for prompt action.

He said it was only through intelligence reports that the current security challenges would be a thing of the past.

"We are battle ready to do all that we can through effective security network to ensure the arrest and prosecution of men of the underworld for peace, progress and political growth of the seat of the caliphate," he said.
