PRESIDENT, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, prominent Yoruba leaders, including Chief Ayo Ade-banjo and Chief Olu Falae, Dr (Mrs) Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, with members of the National Assembly are some of the dignitaries expected at the declaration ceremony of Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko,  in Akure, for his second term bid.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, in Akure, on Thursday, listed other expected personalities at the event as Dr Frederick Fasehun, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) president; General Alani Akinrinade; Dr Kunle Olajide, the Leadership of the Labour Party (LP), as well as traditional rulers and the people of the state, among many others.

The statement said the declaration ceremony will be held on July 25, at the Democracy  Park, Oba Adesida Road, by 10.00 a.m.

A number of groups and individuals had, before now, called on the governor to declare his intention to re-contest the governorship seat in the state.

Also, the national and state leadership and members of market women had persuaded the governor to seek re-election, saying that they would ensure he emerged victorious.

Pensioners across the state, as well as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) had also asked the governor to seek re-election.

The entire workforce in the state had also persuaded Governor Mimiko to step out once again, to retain his position as the state governor.

This is to tell our Politicians that their apparent performances will campaign for them and put riggers into shame.The cases of Fashola and that of Edo Gov.Election proved it all.

Mimiko's Second Coming

Ordinarily, Mimiko does not need any of those whose names are paraded here to stand or campagn for him, because any day any time, Mimiko is a performer.a listening gorvernor, man of the grass root. But he has to do all this because life is like do unto others as you would want them do unto you.
On moral grand, Mimiko is not qualified for a second term and he knows this himself, reason why he has to go all this far to make his declaration or whatever you call it a jambore.
He worked against the second coming of Ajasin, , He did same for Adefarati, , same for Agagu, all of which are his boss at diffrent times, so for such a person to now wish people to give him support so that he could do what he had opposed many people before him for is to say the least morally deffective, but is there moral in politics particulaly our own type in Nigeria?
Mimiko id good and derserves a second term in terms of acheivements, but on moral ground, he should just go back home and take some rest.He could be forgiven though.
