PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday, told chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that opposition parties have continued to run down the Federal Government and the ruling party.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 60th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, at its national headquarters in Abuja, he alerted the party members to the efforts of opposition parties to drown the PDP.

He said it was necessary to tackle the security challenges facing the nation, adding that Boko Haram was not responsible for the recent killing in Plateau State.

He assured that from the observed trend in recent weeks, the Boko Haram insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.

While assuring that the PDP would remain strong, he credited the party for preserving the unity of the country, through its good work and tolerance for opposition.

The president also revealed plans to involve key ministers in administration and the National Security Adviser (NSA) in subsequent meetings of the PDP NEC, to brief the party leaders of the efforts of government.

Meanwhile, the PDP NEC has accepted the resignation of former chairman of its BoT and former president, Chief Olusegun Obansanjo, who tendered his resignation on April 4, 2012.

The acceptance of his resignation was part of the decisions reached by the NEC, which also passed a vote of confidence on President Jonathan.

The party also passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr Bamanga Tukur.

PDP DROWN

Actually the president is late to realise this. The opposition played little role in running down PDP but PDP herself made final onslaught by not delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, Nigerian are no more safe in their father's land, if no drastic steps are taken PDP will soon be history.

I am surprised that Jonathan could blame the opposition party for the dweindling fortune of his PDP and government. But could that be true? Common Dr. Jonathan, be serious. It is you, your government and your party that should be blamed. Nigerians, not only the opposition, are daily dismayed with the failure of your government to respond to the yearnings of the people, and whatch with reckless abandon, how members of your government are daily involved in one scandal or another. So blame yourself, your party and members of your insensitive govertnment for your final downfall which is a matter of time.

Any government that does not possitively embrase opposition is a dead governmeng. PDP should see thruogh the light of every criticisms coming from the oppositions and use them as yardstick to enhance their perfomance. GEJ and his party needs to braze up and make the country a secure place to live rather than passing bulks on the opposition parties. The whole nigeria is complaining about your goverment and we are getting tired. Please do something before it is too late.

No, democracy and Nigeria will collapse if PDP remain in office beyond 2015. The people of Nigeria are tired of insecurity home, corruptions at all levels of our society, poor federal roads, insecurity of our nation from the treasury looters, Boko Haram and the armed robbers operating in broad daylight, and the incompetent PDP government. God’s willing; PDP will not rule Nigeria again. No democracy will survive with this kind of government in power anywhere in the world.

I cannot just image the president accusing the opposition party trying to bring down PDP and his administration when this man has failed to persecute Allison Madueke of all the corruptions in the Oil sector , when this so called man cannot bring about a lasting solution to the insecurity in the northern part of the country and refusing to honour the house of representatives call to address them on this same insecurity issue thereby not respecting the rule of Law, when the so called figure president cannot explain what he has done to the huge amount of debt that his administration has incurred under a period of one year that he has assume that office and many more. This man is a corrupt and should be impeached.

Re-Opposition want to sink us, PDP

"Any House that is against itself is bound to scatter". The enemy of PDP is PDP itself, in the last general election, PDP gave out Ogun State to ACN and it is cutting itself to peices in the frothcoming Local Government Election coming up this weekend as it is busy fighting itself. At National level, the Speaker of the House of Rep. Hon. Tambuwal is a PDP outwardly but inwardly an ACN man. PDP is habouring fifth columists in its midst some are maning improtant position and stiil sabotaging the party. For the Party to survive, it needs to carry out surgical operations among its members and must embrace internal democracy by stopping imposition of candidates.

@Temby. I remember and I am SURE one of the first things GEJ did was to invite opposition and specifically Buhari back then. When he picked up Ribadu, you said that was the 'plan' from the beginning to screw ACN. If what he is saying is STILL not clear then, like many other things he gets criticised for, it emphasises more than ever that Nigerians in their self righteousness, are their own greatest obstacles. You don't call a dog a bad name just so you can hang it.

About your expectations. Please be honest with yourselves as grown men and/or women. Are they truly realistic? The mess is not only in the infrastructure but in the institutions that are supposed to build and maintain these infrastructures. OVER THE PAST 4-5 DECADES!

@rest. You all remind me of spoilt brats that will talk anyhow to anyone about their parents for not getting their xmas present in time for xmas. Never mind that the father is having issues with many other things the enfant terrible cannot comprehend.

What you must accommodate is the possibility that even GEJ naively thought it couldn't be that difficult to set things right in the system. He realises he was wrong but the funny thing is I don't even see him backing down from the matters facing him. Not to talk of the 2-dimensional perspectives that are so easily posted by every jack with an internet link.
