NANS mourns death of 3 SUG presidents in auto crash

THE National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has described the death of the three student leaders in a road accident as rude shock.
The incident occurred last week, while the NANS President, Comrade Dauda Mohammed, the same day, escaped death by a whisker in a separate auto crash on the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway on his way to Edo State to monitor the Saturday governorship election in the state.
Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday from his recovery bed, said the three student leaders, from the Federal University of Technology (FUTA) Akure, Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo and the Ondo State School of Midwifery, Akure, were killed in a tragic motor accident on their way back to their schools after an official outing of the association in Abuja.
He said: “With a very heavy heart, I officially, on behalf of the entire Nigerian students, announce the tragic death of three of our promising student leaders. The sad incident happened on the same evening of Friday, July 13, that I was involved in another accident on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway on my way to Edo State to monitor the July 14 governorship election in the state.”
Meanwhile, the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), on Sunday, warned politicians in the state against politicising the death of student leaders that died in an auto crash last Friday.
The student body also commiserated with the families and institutions of the student leaders, describing the incident as unfortunate.
NAOSS, in a statement by its national president, Comrade Victor Oguntoyinbo, described the deaths of the comrades as a tragic incident which no right- thinking person should read political undertone to.
Oguntoyinbo said, “We commiserate with the families and institutions of the deceased.”
“To all the institutions that lost their student leaders, we advise that protest is not the best option to this; it does not portray what the deceased comrades stood for.”
